Beautiful Jaquet Droz Racing Chronograph The company is named after Pierre Jaquet-Droz (1721-1790), a famous Neuchâtel watchmaker. Pierre Jaquet-Droz was a brilliant manufacturer of watches, clocks and so-called Automatons, mechanically driven characters. These machines were legendary world famous. More contemporary models embody both classic style, restraint and value. They are noted for their artful characteristics. This gorgeous sports watch is powered by a fully serviced and well functioning Lemania 1341 movement. The dial, hands, pushers, crown and case are all original and have a great vintage racing chronograph vibe. The gold-plated case measures 39mm without crown, which was a respectable size in that era. This timepiece is from ~1975 and presents itself in spectacular condition - Please see pictures for more details. Unfortunately the original box & papers as well as the JD bracelet have been lost, which is why it is being offered on a neutral all black NATO strap. It has a leather strap with a platinum deployant buckle, a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and an exhibition sapphire display case back. The 43mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and rounded bezel are polished. The dial is enamel with blued hands, and two polished blued serpentine hands that indicate the day and day along the sides of the dial. There are small white dot index hour markers on the outermost edge. There is a small subdial at 12 oclock that displays the month of the year, in the middle of this subdial is a round window that displays the leap year cycle. Its water resistant to 30mm/100 feet, and it has an approximate power reserve of 68 hours at full wind. The 12.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. Jaquet Droz Caliber 5863 movement is rhodium plated, with fauses cotes and hand embellishment. It has a double barrel, a straight-line escapement, and a monometallic balance thats adjusted for temperature and 5 positions. Its constructed with 28 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and the rotor oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
