On offer is a gold capped, stainless steel backed Omega Constellation wristwatch. The flagship watch of the Omega brand in the 1950s and 60s and one of the fabled mid 500 movements, the 561 caliber as with all mid 500s, is based on the excellent 551 but has the added date function. The date being set on this model by winding the hands either forwards or back to the 12 oclock position. It was the later 564 movment where the quickset date function was added. The 561 caliber was developed by Omega to rival the Rolex 1570 movement which also had a date function. The serial number 19683013 dates this watch to 1962. The 24 jewel, automatic movement is in good condition, with some minor tooling marks and is working well. The case is approx 35mm wide and approx 9mm deep and is in good condition with signs of wear you might expect from a 56 year old watch. With elegantly shaped and champhered lugs this watch looks fantastic on the wrist. The dial is original, and in good condition, with gold and onyx baton markers and a date aperture at 3 oclock. The watch comes with the original, gold and onyx, daupine hour and minute hands and a sweeping second hand. Some very small marks on the dial visible under magnification. This model comes with its original, Omega, concealed crown which gives the watch an added streamlined look. The original crystal has the Omega logo etched into its surface at the centre. It has minor surface scratches and hairline crack approx 3mm long at the 6 oclock position that is barely visible unless viewed closely or under magnification. With the crystal being original we have taken the decision not to replace it as it does not detract from the overall appearance. The watch comes with its Omega branded box. We are not watchmakers or repairers.
