This is a beautiful vintage Hamilton watch from a local estate. The watch is from circa 1940, and is platinum set with numerous diamonds. The total carat weight of the diamonds is approximately .50 carats. As you would expect on a Hamilton watch the diamonds are white in color, and VS clarity. The watch head measures 36.5mm long and 14.5mm wide. The case is excellent, with no damage. The back is engraved with names and a 1940 date. The movement is manual wind, 17 jewels, caliber 911. It runs, but has not been cleaned or serviced in years, so it is probably not reliable. The dial is silver with black numbers. The dial has toned with age. This is a beautifully made Art Deco period Cartier solid 18k gold watch, dating from ca. 1920 and comes with an Authenticity certificate and paper-work stating this is a genuine Cartier watch. The movement is very clean and has been well looked after and just recently overhauled and oiled by my watch-maker, The watch is in very good working order for its age, winding smoothly and running strongly. The watch movement with European Watch Company stamp, one of the few pre-war companies who supplied movements to Cartier. THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid platinum case measures 44mm outside diameter. The front top cover is in excellent condition, and the rear cover also snaps into place nice and tightly, with no untoward marks present. The case stamped platinum and with a case number of 7161. There are also Swiss hall marks. Please note that we do not re-polish cases to give a new look, as this often results in surfaces and edges being abraded as is so often the case. The case rear cover with Art Deco stylised monogram. The case with several elegant features setting it apart from the norm: firstly the stylised Art Deco solid platinum bow; secondly the attention on the delicate snap on case covers, still as tight and crisp as when first made; the very fine and delicate work to the case rear cover monogram; and finally showing the attention of a master case-maker, at the 12.00 position where the front and rear covers close next to the pendant, there are tiny arched cut-outs to allow a tight and snug fit. However best of all is the case thickness, 3.8 mm, a super-narrow high grade watch. The watch comes with a presentation box. This will keep the watch in good order and protect it when not in use. There is a rectangular month aperture at 3 oclock, a matching day aperture at 9 oclock, and a subsidiary moon phase indicator at 6 oclock. A retrograde date arch is between 8 and 4 oclock, with a red arrow-tipped hand, and a leap year aperture window under the 12 oclock position. Its water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and it has a 45-hour power reserve at full wind. The 5.25mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.
