This Smiths W10 wristwatch was manufactured for the British army and issued in 1968. A fine example of British watchmaking, the piece was well suited for military action; in fact, rigorous testing was carried out on the model at laboratories of the Chronometer branch of the Hydrographer of the Navy at Herstmonceux, East Sussex, along with extensive field tests in both the Tropics and the Arctic. The watch has a robust stainless steel case and powerful, shockproof calibre 60466E manual movement with 17 jewels and hacking seconds, operated via the crown. The matte black dial is designed for easy reading, featuring elegant white Arabic numerals, a white outer minutes/seconds track, with luminous rectangles about the quarter markers and luminous tritium dots above the intervening hours, luminescent hands, also in tritium, white centre sweep seconds and the military broad arrow or ‘Pheon’ denoted above 6 o’clock.

For sale is this British Made classic Timex Sprite 24 hour Military Style mechanical wind up Calendar wrist watch on a new black old stock vintage rubber strap like the sort some had new but fits a much bigger wrist 7.8 inch just or smaller so much better for wearing today then the smaller straps they came on new .This example comes from my Timex collection.The Reference Number at the bottom of the dial is 23571-02578, the last two digits dating this watch to 1978 a fabulous birth year watch a very rare find in this condition .The movement is in full working order; it is running well and keeping good time when set (less than -1 minute over a 24 hour period - face up desktop test or the wrist ) its had a full service this week not a cheap oil, although due to its age I cannot offer any guarantee on how long it will continue to do so - all mechanical watch movements need periodic servicing, cleaning & oiling so do please bear this potential additional cost in mind when bidding.This is a traditional mid sized mens watch; its measurements are ~30mm bezel (excluding crown) 33mm with crown , by ~37mm tip of lug to tip of lug, and a depth of 10mm including crystal.Cosmetically in excellent used condition overall in my opinion , with absolutely no loss of the original lume from the hour dots and the hands (no longer luminous ). The chrome plated brass case, stainless steel case back and winding crown are all in superb condition.
